Competitor Landscape & Differentiation Guide

You cannot win a battle you have not mapped. This part documents who Crelligent competes against in the Nigerian and global market, what they charge, where they are strong, and precisely how to differentiate Crelligent in a competitive conversation.

The Competitive Landscape — Four Tiers

Tier 1 — Global Consulting Majors

McKinsey & Company, BCG, Bain, Deloitte Consulting, PwC Advisory, KPMG Consulting, Accenture. These firms are present in Nigeria and across Africa. They charge $250,000–$2M+ for major transformation programmes. They win on brand credibility and global reference clients.

Crelligent's advantage against Tier 1: You are significantly more affordable for the same strategic depth. You have African operational context they lack. You combine strategy, software, and hardware in a single engagement — they subcontract the technology work. And critically, a senior Crelligent engagement is led by the founder — the most experienced person in the firm. At McKinsey, the partner sells and the analysts deliver.

Tier 2 — Regional Consulting Firms

SIAO Partners, Verraki (Andela spinout), Infosys BPO Nigeria, Accenture Nigeria mid-market practice, local Big 4 advisory arms. These firms serve mid-market Nigerian clients at ₦10M–₦80M per engagement. They are Crelligent's most direct price-point competitors.

Crelligent's advantage against Tier 2: The systems thinking framework, the Edge hardware capability, and the Foundry venture creation model are not available from any of these firms. They are primarily advisory — they do not build. Crelligent designs and builds.

Tier 3 — Digital Agencies & Technology Firms

Softcom, Interswitch Group consulting arm, SystemSpecs, numerous Lagos-based digital transformation agencies. These firms are strong on technology delivery but weak on strategy and business systems design. They are often cheaper — ₦5M–₦30M for a typical engagement.

Crelligent's advantage against Tier 3: A digital agency builds what the client asks for. Crelligent designs what the client actually needs. The difference is diagnosis. When a client comes with a technology brief, Crelligent's first question is always: "Is this the right problem to solve?" That diagnostic depth commands a different commercial relationship.

Tier 4 — Freelance Consultants & Boutique Firms

Individual strategy consultants, small two-to-five person boutiques, ex-Big 4 independents. Variable quality, low prices (₦2M–₦15M), very dependent on personal relationships.

Crelligent's advantage against Tier 4: The structured ESRE methodology, the contractor delivery network, the three-unit capability (Enterprise + Edge + Foundry), and the brand positioning as a systems firm rather than a general consultant. Crelligent is not a freelancer with a company name. It is a systems company with a methodology.

When a prospect says: "We are also talking to McKinsey."

The right response is never to compete on McKinsey's terms. Instead: "McKinsey will give you the best strategy document money can buy. The question is who builds the system that executes it. Because strategy without the operating model, the technology architecture, and the operational intelligence layer to support it typically stalls within twelve months. That is precisely the gap Crelligent was built to close."
